TOP OF THE LEAGUE WITH TAG HEUER

Exclusive TAG Heuer Wildcard Tournament hold as part of the TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga 2016/2017

Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer, the official partner and official timekeeper of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga, as well as the namesake of the Virtual Bundesliga, organised yesterday an exclusive Wildcard Tournament as part of the TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga 2016/2017 Season. Hosted in cooperation with EA SPORTS, this was the first official tournament of its kind.

 TAG Heuer has invited 12 specially selected competitors from the world of professional German eSports to battle it out at the Malzfabrik, a historic location in the centre of Cologne. This was the first time that pro-gamers from various different clubs and clans have ever competed in a qualifying event of this kind outside of the standard tournament scene. The tournament saw competitors go all out on the virtual pitch during the group stages (with eight individual rounds), the semi-finals and the final.

 Key figures in the TAG Heuer tournament include eSports giants such as Erhan “Dr. Erhano” Kayman, Mirza Jahic (winner of the TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga 2013/2014), players from the eSports teams of FC Schalke 04 and VfL Wolfsburg, as well as numerous other well-known eSports personalities. Competitors played for the chance to win a place in the final of the TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga 2016/2017, a highly coveted prize that only the 20 best players of the season will receive. Those whose hard work takes them through to the final will go head to head on 15th and 16th April 2017.
