n 1846, in Le Locle, Switzerland, young watchmaker Ulysse Nardin had a vision of the future. Despite living miles from the sea, he was convinced of two things: a rising demand for marine and pocket chronometers
Oris introduces its first watch for pilots, which has a distinguishing big crown and a Pointer Calendar function.
In 1884, Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. At this time Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping stem the flow of emigration.
Candino belongs to one of the few watchmaking Groups in the world capable of covering each and every stage of a watch’s manufacture. This enables a level of process control and quality standards unique in the field, placing the firm in an ideal position to compete at the highest levels.
